Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
