A Manchester club fields an amateur vets team with 9 former top-flight footballers in their present squad.

Two Hundred Twenty-Two Top Division Scores, Three Hundred Twenty-Five International Caps

The team Vets Over 35s are situated in south Manchester and compete in the Cheshire Vets Division Top Division.

Their squad list this campaign includes 9 former Premier League players, with a total nearly 1,800 Premier League appearances.

This elite team also contains over 220 Premier League scores and 325 global caps.

The squad include Papiss Cisse, who netted 37 goals in over 100 appearances for his former club after signing for them for nine million pounds from German league side Freiburg in 2012.

He had his debut for Wythenshawe in their most recent home-field match versus defending title holders their rivals and scored every one of the six scores in a 6-2 victory - featuring a half-hour first-half hat-trick.

Wythenshawe's team for this season also includes former professionals such as England and Anfield striker Emile Heskey, Hull and Burnley FC winger George Boyd, Toffees striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa, City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and Premier League title victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Together, the former Premier League footballers have won 15 big honors and transferred for total transfer sums of around £123 million.

Famous Figures and International Stars

Ireland started turning out for the team during pre-season this summer through good friend and current team player Blake Norton, and the former Irish midfielder then invited additional former professionals, who all compete in a midweek small-sided game, to participate.

Former Senegal forward Niasse, who netted twelve goals in sixty-five Premier League matches for Everton and still attends their home games, also had his debut versus Collegiate OB - who are based in the city and use an Everton warm-up gear as their uniform.

"My mate Stephen told me 'come and have a game, it's a laugh'," commented Niasse.

"Then he told me we were facing a team from Liverpool and the surprise I had when I saw them sporting Everton kits - I thought this is strange for me!

"If you still love the game and you feel you can still do it, anywhere you can kick a ball, what are you going to choose?

"Those spectators who turn up and watch are pleased and to give someone's day if they see us playing there and to pose us queries - it's more like the pleasure of us having somewhere we can play, with organisation of course."

So great is the strength in depth at Wythenshawe, Niasse made his debut at full-back.

"It's a little different but then, I enjoy sprinting and just move forward - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep running.

"That running is what I'm after. It's enjoyable."

Dreamlike' Experience

In addition to the forward's 6 goals on debut, Ireland has scored 8 in 3 appearances for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit five on his first match and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by trade, scored a triple in one match up front.

Wythenshawe are top of the Premier Division with 3 wins from 3 and a GD of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the flank for Collegiate OB, came up against former Wigan full-back Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his nine-year-old boy who Heskey was.

He has appeared at 2 World Cups for Honduras, in addition to playing in more than 200 top-flight matches.

"It was going round like wildfire they had these ex-Premier League stars," said the player.

"I think I was a bit starstruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Heskey came on and he's has over 60 England appearances.

"We competed well for a good 20 minutes but then we had a man dismissed and it was tough.

"We really haven't stopped chatting about it - I was calling my mum and sibling on the way home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the game - it was like facing a bunch of normal guys.

"Now we can't wait for the second match."
